For the first ten days that I was here, only Tanya, Kakhi, and I were in the apartment, because the boys, Tornike and Giorgi, and their mother, Nino, were on a trip to Italy to participate in a choral competition.  Now they have returned home.

To the right are a few of the boys (bichebi) in traditional Georgian costumes.  Giorgi is second from the left, and Tornike is third from the left.

               Nino in Italy.
They traveled by bus, first to Turkey and then by ferry across the Black Sea to Greece, and then to Italy.  They won first prize in the Folk Music category.  They were able to see the sights of Venice and Athens as well as some other famous places before coming home.

Now the boys are back in school, and Nino is back to her medical work.  Tornike is attending a Russian school this year, because somehow he can graduate from this preparatory school next June and then go to the University next September.  If he had stayed in his regular school, he would have needed to attend for two more years before graduating.
