YOUR SPANISH GRADE – What Counts!
All students have received a copy of these guidelines. If you need another copy, please print out this material.
GRADING CATEGORIES
20% - Written Work
Incomplete (at least half done) homework will receive only partial credit. Late work will not be accepted and cannot be made up, unless you have an excused absence.
30% - Performance Pieces (Conversations /Participation/ Speaking)
In learning a foreign language, it is very important to try to speak the language, even if you feel unsure or shy at first. Mistakes in speaking won’t count against you--but NOT trying will! Your responses in class will be counted, recorded, and rated as part of your grade.
SHORT, FREQUENT PRACTICE SESSIONS are best for remembering oral conversations and new vocabulary. Practice Spanish every day outside of class--including Saturday and Sunday!
30% - Quizzes & Tests
Quizzes and tests are announced several days ahead of time. Review and study materials will also be given in advance.
15% -Mini- Projects - Hispanic Culture-Based
Your projects will be a hands-on visual creation, not a written or oral report. You will receive project directions and materials well in advance of the due date.
5% - Notebook
*A NOTEBOOK is required for this class. You will get an all-or-nothing grade on it. Just follow the directions and you will get 100% on your notebook!
*You must have a 3-ring binder & 5 tab dividers for your notebook (see me if you have trouble with this).
*Part of your notebook grade is keeping an assignment book or a list of Spanish assignments. Copy the assignment down every day; this will always be found on the board in the room.
Required Notebook Sections:
1- the three Calendarios and Assignment List for the trimester (assignments must be written on the Calendarios or in an assignment book).
2 – Grammar Notes
3 – Written Work: Classwork and Returned Homework
4 - Conversations
5 – My Resources: study notes, conversations to learn by heart, returned quizzes / tests, etc.
